The short story: Senior Vicky Giommarini (Rome, Italy) led VCU's high-octane offense with 12 kills as the Rams won their ninth straight match Saturday.

OPENING VOLLEY

  • Giommarini committed just one hitting error in 17 tries and added seven digs and a pair of service aces
  • Seniors Gina Tuzzolo (Newport News, Va.) and Jaelyn Jackson (South Chesterfield, Va.) contributed nine kills and five blocks apiece to the VCU cause
  • On the back line, senior Madalon Simpson (Louisville, Ky.) registered 22 digs for the Black and Gold
  • VCU senior middle blocker Jasmin Sneed (San Antonio, Texas), who entered the weekend as the nation's leader in blocks per set, added five more, as well as eight kills. She hit .583
  • Hattie Rodriguez provided 11 kills for Davidson

THE DIFFERENCE

  • VCU hit .439 in the match. The Rams committed just seven hitting errors all day
  • The Rams outblocked the Wildcats 11.5 to 4.0
  • Davidson hit .157, due in part to VCU's 45-35 advantage in digs

  • VCU has swept five straight matches. The Rams have dropped just two sets in conference play
