The short story: Senior outside hitter Vicky Giommarini supplied a team-high 12.0 points, while redshirt senior Jaelyn Jackson added eight kills and four blocks in VCU's first win of the season Friday in Columbus.

OPENING VOLLEY

  • Giommarini provided nine kills and hit .333 to highlight a dominant VCU performance. She added two aces, two blocks and dug seven balls
  • Jackson kicked in four blocks in Friday's nightcap and has totaled 10 blocks in two matches on the day. Jackson spiked eight kills in 10 attempts against the Mountain Hawks
  • Senior opposite Gina Tuzzolo contributed seven kills and hit .278 for the Black and Gold
  • Senior libero Madalon Simpson anchored the back row with 10 digs, five assists and a pair of service aces for VCU
  • Sophomore Dani Jo David served up five aces for the Rams
  • Julia Pressly paced Lehigh with six kills and two blocks

THE DIFFERENCE

  • The VCU offense was no match for Lehigh. The Rams hit .304 in the match, including .379 and .360 in the second and third, respectively
  • The Mountain Hawks recorded 16 hitting errors and just 24 kills. Lehigh hit .090 for the match

NOTABLE

  • Senior middle blocker Jasmin Sneed inched closer to the school's career blocks mark. The San Antonio native added four to her career total and now needs eight to become VCU's all-time leader. Former teammate Tori Baldwin currently owns the mark of 519, which she set last year
  • VCU recorded 11 aces in the match
