RICHMOND, Va. – This is becoming a bit of a thing.
For the third time in four weeks, VCU sophomore middle blocker Jasmin Sneed (San Antonio, Texas) has been named the Atlantic 10 Conference's Defensive Player of the Week. Sneed will share the honor this week with Marie Gilcrist of Rhode Island.
Sneed averaged 1.43 blocks per set in four matches to lead the Rams to an unbeaten week. She provided seven blocks in Saturday's sweep of Northwestern, VCU's first win over a Big Ten program. Additionally, Sneed posted six blocks and 11 kills in a 3-2 triumph over Seton Hall.
The San Antonio, Texas native also recorded 1.64 kills per set during the week, while hitting .265. Sneed currently ranks second in the A-10 in blocks per set at 1.43.
The Rams have won 10 straight matches and open Atlantic 10 play on Friday, Sept. 22 when they host Rhode Island at 7 p.m. at E.J. Wade Arena the Siegel Center.
