RICHMOND, Va. – VCU freshman middle blocker Jasmine Sneed was named the Virginia Lottery Student-Athlete of the Week for her efforts in the Rams' two wins this past weekend. Sneed was also named Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week.
In a match against George Mason on Oct. 10, Sneed recorded three kills and five blocks. She carried that momentum into a match two days later against George Washington where she had seven kills and a service ace.
Though Sneed has had early success here at VCU, she still has plenty of questions. Sophomore middle blocker Tori Baldwin has been someone she has leaned on for advice.
"It's nice to have someone to look up to. Luckily, I have Tori so if I have any questions that come up in a game, I'll ask her about it and that will help me out," said Sneed.
The Rams hope to carry the momentum into their matchup against Dayton on Oct. 14.
"I'm really excited for the match on Friday," said Sneed. "I know it's going to be a challenge but it's our time to shine."
