Rebecca Strange was named the Virginia Lottery Student-Athlete of the week for her performance in propelling VCU victorious in its four matches last week.
For her efforts, Strange was also named Atlantic-10 Defensive Player of the Week and made the VCU Invitational All-Tournament Team.
The junior, Avon, Indianapolis native registered 5.60 digs per match over the four game span, with her best outing coming against William and Mary, where she recorded a career-high 30 digs — the most by a Ram since 2009.
“My mom told me before the W&M game I only had 46 to go before I get to 1,000 digs,” Strange said.
She would go on to tackle that feat and some, her total digs for her career after last week currently stand at 1,038.
Favorite place to go on campus: “I’d have to say the Village, it’s kind of my go-to place for food. The night I got my career-high in digs we went there after the match.”
