RICHMOND, Va. – The VCU Women's Track & Field and Cross Country team has earned All-Academic Team recognition from the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association. Rhree student athletes also earned individual All-Academic honors for the 2018-2019 season.

Juniors Kara Lyles (Suffolk, Va.), Emily Mulhern (Ijamsville, Md.) and Kayla Smith (Ashvurn, Va.) all received individual USTFCCCA All-Academic honors. 

In order for a student-athlete to receive USTFCCCA All-Academic honors, the athlete must have compiled a cumulative GPA of 3.25 or above and met one of the following athletic standards:

  • For the indoor season, a student-athlete must have finished the regular season ranking in the national top 96 in an individual event or ranked in the national top 48 (collective listing) in a relay event on the official NCAA POP list provided by TFRRS.org.
  • For the outdoor season, a student-athlete must have participated in any round of the NCAA Division I Championship (including preliminary rounds).

The Rams posted a 3.2 GPA as a squad. For their accomplishment, VCU was one of 297 men's and women's teams nationally that earned the distinction as a result of posting a cumulative GPA of 3.00 or higher.

The team captured the 2019 A-10 Indoor Track & Field Championship and finished in second place at the 2019 Atlantic 10 Outdoor Track & Field Championship.
