RICHMOND, Va. – The VCU Women's Tennis team will head to Raleigh, N.C. and face No. 12 overall seed N.C. State in the 2019 NCAA Women's Tennis Tournament First Round. The match will take place at 4 p.m. on Saturday, May 4.  

The Rams won their sixth Atlantic 10 Championship in the seven years since joining the conference on April 27. The Rams earned the A-10's automatic bid to the tournament. It marks the 13th NCAA Tournament Appearance in the last 14 years and the 18th appearance overall. VCU is 18-5 overall and had a complete sweep of the field at the A-10 Championship. The Black and Gold beat Richmond 4-0 in the final after a 4-0 win over Davidson in the semifinals and a 4-0 win against Saint Louis in the quarterfinals.

N.C. State holds a 22-6 overall record after falling to Miami in the Atlantic Coast Conference quarterfinals, 4-2. The Rams will meet the Wolfpack for the 19th time as VCU holds a 10-8 overall edge in the series' history. The teams last met on Jan. 30, 2016 in a 4-3 thriller won by the Wolfpack. The series history between the two schools dates back to 1991.

Tennessee and Furman is the other matchup hosted by N.C. State in VCU's portion of the bracket.
