RICHMOND, Va. – It may be summer, but the VCU's Women's Tennis program is still winning.
The Rams, the reigning Atlantic 10 Conference Champions, were honored this week for their academic prowess when they were named an ITA All-Academic Team. VCU earned the distinction by posting a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of better than 3.20 (on a 4.00 scale).
In addition to their team honor, two players, rising sophomores Melissa Ifidzhen (Moscow, Russia) and Sofia Sualehe (Lisbon, Portugal) we honored as ITA Scholar Athletes. In order to receive an ITA Scholar-Athlete award, a player must be a letter winner, achieve a GPA of 3.5 or higher and have been enrolled at their school for a minimum of two semesters.
The ITA awards cap a 2017-18 campaign which saw VCU finish 17-6 and win its fifth A-10 Championship in six years.
