2- VCU is 2-0 against UMass in A-10 Tournament play. The Rams defeated the Minutewomen 4-0 in the 2015 A-10 Championship match in Charlottesville, Va. Current senior Darya Berezhnaya was a member of that 2015 team. 

6- VCU eyes its sixth straight conference title when it meets UMass on Sunday, April 30 in the Atlantic 10 Championship match. The Rams have won all four A-10 titles since VCU joined the league prior to the 2012-13 campaign. VCU claimed the Colonial Athletic Association crown in its final season in that league. 

7- VCU players have earned seven ITA All-America citations. The last Ram to receive that honor was Tatsiana Uvarova, who picked up the award in 2006 after she reached the NCAA Singles Championship Quarterfinals

9- The Rams will be seeking their ninth conference title in school history. VCU has won four titles in both the CAA and Atlantic 10.

12- VCU will look to extend its streak of consecutive NCAA apperances to 12. The Rams notably reached the NCAA Tournament Elite Eight in 2002 and the Sweet 16 in 2006. 

15- The Rams are a perfect 15-0 in Atlantic 10 Conference Tournament matches since joining the league.

VCU Coach Paul Kostin is the second-winningest coach in Division I history. In 36 seasons, including nine at his alma mater, Arkansas-Little Rock, Kostin is 1,118-400. His teams have amassed 38 conference titles and 34 NCAA berths. 

Kostin first took over the VCU Men's program in 1990-91 and later the Women's team in 2001-02. He is 301-103 as VCU's Women's coach, and has led the program to NCAA bids in all but one season. In 27 years as VCU Men's coach and 15 seasons leading the Women's program, he has never suffered a losing season. 

In 2000, he steered the VCU Men's program to the NCAA Championship Match. He was named USPTA National Coach of the Year for his efforts that season. 

Senior Darya Berezhnaya is the lone upperclassman on VCU's roster this season. The other six players are all either freshmen or sophomores. Underclassmen account for 82 of VCU's 102 singles victories this season, including 61 of 74 in dual matches this spring. 

Berezhnaya would collect her third conference championship as a Ram with a victory Sunday. 

Sophomore Janina Braun, the Atlantic 10 Conference's Most Outstanding Rookie Performer in 2016, has only gotten stronger in her second season. The Berlin, Germany native is 25-7 in singles play this year and 41-11 in singles in two seasons. She is 19-4 this spring, including 14-4 on the No. 1 court. She has won both of her singles match-ups in this year's A-10 Tournament.
