NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – It looks like the VCU women's tennis team is taking down everything in its path these days.

Not only have the Rams won seven straight, but the Black & Gold also swept the Atlantic 10 weekly honors with sophomore Salome Kvitashvili winning the Player of Week award for the third time and classmate Cindy Chala earning her third Rookie of the Week accolade.

Kvitashvili went 2-0 on both the single and doubles courts this past weekend as VCU took down Pittsburgh (7-0) and Marshall (4-1). The Tbilsi, Georgia native took down Pitt's Molly Wickman on Friday (6-1, 6-1) and Marshall's Kai Broomfield (6-3, 6-4) on Saturday for two straight set victories. On the doubles court, she teamed with junior Olga Terteac for an 8-0 win on Friday and 8-2 win on Saturday.

For the year, Kvitashvili is now 22-6 overall and 11-4 this spring.

Chala enters this week as the only ranked player on the women's roster at  #103 in the  latest ITA rankings. This past weekend she took down Pitt's Taylor Washington (6-2, 6-1) and Marshall's Dominika Zaprazna (6-4, 7-6 (9-7)) to improve her mark this spring to 12-4, which all four losses coming to players ranked in the top-60 in the ITA.

The Rams are back in action this weekend when they host former CAA foe, Georgia State, in a Saturday morning showdown.
