NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - Last week the VCU women's tennis team saw great success on the road. They saw victory against both North Carolina State and Brown. While the wins were a team effort, two players are being recognized for their integral roles in the matches.

Sophomore Salome Kvitashvili has been named Atlantic 10 Women's Tennis Performer of the Week. This is the second time she has received the accolade this season. Kvitashvili won each of her four matches this past week helping to propel the Rams to a 13-4 overall record.

The sophomore defeated No. 20 NC State's Elisha Hande (6-1, 7-6 (7-3)). She then partnered up with junior Olga Terteac to win against Chloe Smith and Sophie Nelson at the No. 3 doubles spot.  The Rams won the match 4-2.

In the match against Brown Kvitashvili saw victory at the No. 4 singles position as she took on Nikita Uberoi (6-4, 6-1).  To round out the day she secured a win against Ammu Mandalap and Uberoi at No. 3 doubles.  VCU defeated Brown 5-2.

However Kvitashvili is not the only Ram making a name for herself. Freshman Yukako Noi was named the A-10 Women's Tennis Rookie Performer of the Week.

Noi won both of her singles matches last week, helping the Rams in both outtings. Against No. 20 NC State she posted a No. 3 singles victory over Rachael James-Baker (7-5, 6-1). On Friday against Brown she played at the No. 2 singles spot and defeated Hannah Camhi (6-3, 6-3).
