  • The Short Story: VCU grabbed momentum right away with an easy doubles point en route to its fourth win in the past five outings, a 5-2 defeat of South Florida, a top-60 team in the latest ITA rankings. Sophomores Cindy Chala and Salome Kvitashvili, along with junior Olga Terteac, all posted singles and doubles victories on the day.

How it Happened

  • The day started with Kvitashvili and Terteac throttling South Florida's Fanny Fracassi and Paula Montoya at the third doubles spot, 8-3. Chala and senior Josefin Hjertquist followed close behind with an 8-6 win at the second doubles position to secure the first point for the Rams.
  • Terteac quickly made it 2-0 with an easy 6-0, 6-1 win over Danielle Mills at the third spot in VCU's singles lineup.
  • Chala pushed it to 3-0 with a 6-1, 6-3 victory of her own, but South Florida answered with wins at #2 and #4 singles.
  • That's when Kvitashvili secured the match for the Black & Gold with a 6-3, 6-0 win over Fracassi at the fifth singles spot.
