NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - After winning 11 of her 13 matches during the fall season, it was evident that Salome Kvitashvili wasn't going to fall into a sophomore slump that so many other college student-athletes run into.

Switching into the spring season hasn't slowed down Kvitashvili momentum as the second-year standout is now a perfect 4-0 in singles competition. For her efforts, she was named Atlantic 10 Conference Player of the Week on Tuesday.

All four of Kvitashvili singles victories have come in straight sets with a 6-4, 6-3 victory over DePaul's Ana Vladutu being her most recent win. That win clinched VCU's opening round victory over the Blue Demons in the ITA Kickoff Weekend.

In her first doubles match of the spring, she clinched the doubles point against DePaul, teaming with freshman Olga Barscheuskaya to pick up a hard-fought 8-7 (9-7) win at the third doubles spot.

Kvitashvili and the Rams are back in action this weekend when they host 12th-ranked UVA on Friday. First serve at Thalhimer Tennis Center is set for 3 p.m.
