Rams Continue Undefeated Weekend With Wins over Temple, Morgan State in VCU 4-1 Invitational

  • The VCU Women's Tennis squad continued play in its annual 4-1 Invitational Saturday afternoon, picking up victories over Temple and Morgan State at Thalhimer Tennis Center.
  • Sophomore Salome Kvitashvili picked up singles victories in both matches.  She defeated Temple's Maame Ama Osei (6-0, 6-3) before knocking off Morgan State's Ekaterina Iakovleva (6-2, 6-2).
  • Cindy Chala and Olga Terteac also picked up singles wins against Temple, while Olga Barscheuskaya and Karina Alesha followed with victories over Morgan State.
  • VCU's duo of Josefin Hjertquist and Alesha were leading Temple's Jordan Batey/Alicia Doms 6-2, 3-5 but did not finish.  Later, Morgan State defaulted as the Bears did not have enough players to participate in doubles action.
