TAMPA, Fla. – A week into April and there hasn't been any of the typical "April Showers" around the Richmond area.

That's probably because of the red-hot play of the VCU women's tennis team, who grabbed their sixth straight win with a dominating 7-0 defeat of Marquette in a neutral site match played at the University of South Florida on Saturday morning. The Rams are now 15-4 on the year and haven't lost since March 2nd.

Saturday's match started with yet another doubles point sweep by the Black & Gold, which marked the 14th time this spring that VCU swept the doubles matches. Sophomores Olga Terteac and Daria Yakauleva got things started with an easy 8-1 win at the second position before the sister tandem of Alex and Ana Bara secured the doubles point with an 8-5 win at the top singles spot.

Alex Bara kept the momentum going with a decisive 6-2, 6-1 win over Gillian Hush at #2 singles. Terteac continued her strong play this spring with a 6-3, 6-0 victory over Rocio Diaz at the third spot in the lineup to give VCU a 3-0 cushion.

For the second straight day, Kvitashvili delivered the clinching point, this time it was a 6-1, 6-4 win over Ana Pimienta at the fifth singles position.

Marketa Placha, Alena Gerasimova and Ana Bara all followed with singles victories of their own to wrap up the sweep for the Black & Gold.

VCU returns to the Commonwealth for a Wednesday afternoon showdown at in-state and CAA rival, William & Mary. First serve is set for 3 p.m.
