WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – Over four months have gone by since the Virginia Commonwealth University women's tennis team reeled off three straight wins to capture the 2010 Colonial Athletic Association Championship en route to a top-25 ranking.

In its first appearance since the spring season, the Black & Gold looked as sharp as they did in April reeling off a combined 18-5 singles mark at the 18th annual William & Mary Fall Invitational this past weekend.

Leading the way for the Rams was sophomore Josefin Hjertquist (Spanga, Sweden) who went unblemished through the Flight B singles bracket. She posted four straight wins, including a 2-6, 6-0, 10-8 victory over the second-seeded Hana Toljanovic of Virginia.

Junior Ana Bara (Oradea, Romania) also had a solid weekend with a perfect 3-0 mark, two of which were decisive straight set victories before toppling third-seeded Caryssa Peretz of Virginia, 2-6, 6-2, 6-1.

The two new members of the Rams showed a lot of promise with Olga Terteac (Cisinau, Moldova) tallying a 3-0 mark and Daria Yakauleva (Minsk, Belarus) going 3-1 over the weekend.

VCU returns to action next weekend in the UVA Fall Invitational beginning on Friday, Sept. 17th in Charlottesville, Va.
