NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - VCU Women's Basketball freshman Tera Reed earned Atlantic-10 Co-Rookie of the Week honors as she averaged 19.5 points per game and 8.5 rebounds against La Salle and Richmond this past week.
Reed, a 6-foot guard from New Zealand, led the Rams with 22 points and 11 rebounds in an overtime loss against Richmond on Sunday. Both totals were a team-high and it marked her third double-double of the season against Richmond. She also scored 17 points and added six rebounds against La Salle on Jan. 25. In her first season as a Ram, Reed is averaging 13.8 points per game and 6.3 rebounds per game and currently leads the team in scoring.
Reed is on pace to become the first freshman to lead VCU in scoring since Quanitra Hollingsworth in 2005-06. She would also become just the seventh Ram to accomplish the feat in program history.
The Rams are back in action on Jan. 31 versus Saint Joseph's at the E.J. Wade Arena with tipoff set for 6:00 p.m.
