RICHMOND, Va. –VCU Women's Basketball's 2016-17 conference schedule features two nationally televised contests, three televised games overall and six games against teams that reached the postseason in 2015-16 as part of the Atlantic 10 schedule released Wednesday.
VCU's two nationally televised games are back-to-back home contests on CBS SportsNetwork with the first against Richmond on January 5 followed by Saint Louis on January 8. In addition, the Rams game on Feb. 12 at Duquesne will be televised on the American Sports Network.
The Rams are coming off a 2015-16 season in which they went 23-10 overall with a 10-6 mark in conference play. VCU qualified for the postseason and hosted a first round Women's National Invitational Tournament game against Virginia.
The Rams open conference play on Dec. 2 with a trip to one of last year's three A-10 regular-season co-champions and NCAA Tournament team George Washington before finishing their non-conference slate. VCU returns to A-10 play on Jan. 1 when they kickoff a three-game homestand beginning with La Salle.
VCU hosts Richmond and Saint Louis in the televised games on Jan. 5 and 8, respectively, before playing three of its next four contests on the road. Saint Louis reached the third round of the WNIT last season after being an A-10 regular-season co-champion.
VCU hosts Massachusetts on Jan. 28 and makes a short trip to Richmond on Feb. 1. Dayton, a WNIT team last season, heads to Richmond on Feb. 4 before VCU hits the road for a rematch against Saint Louis on Feb. 8 followed by an away game at Duquesne, another of last year's A-10 regular-season co-champions and NCAA Tournament team, on Feb. 12.
The Rams close out conference play with two of their final three games at home. VCU hosts Saint Joseph's on Feb. 15 then travel to face St. Bonaventure on Feb. 18, a team that reached the second round of the NCAA Tournament this past season. The Rams close out the regular-season on Feb. 21 as they host Davidson.
