ATLANTA, Ga.—Senior forward Courtney Hurt continues to add to her list of accomplishments as a VCU Ram.  On Wednesday, Hurt was named to the 2011-12 Naismith Women's Early-Season Watch List by the Atlanta Tipoff Club.  The list recognizes the top 50 women's basketball players in the country.

The Atlanta Tipoff Club based selections on player performances during the 2010-11 season and player expectations for this year.  Last February, Hurt was named to the Naismith Trophy Midseason Top 30 list, the first player in VCU history to be recognized by the board.

Last year, the Conyers, Ga., native posted the nation's best rebounding average with 12.4 rpg, and led the country in double-doubles with 25.  She also ranked second in the NCAA in scoring, averaging 23.2 ppg.  Her offensive explosion put her on track to break VCU's single-season scoring record, tallying 622 points through 27 games.  She finished the season with 720 points.  With a current total of 1,474 points, Hurt ranks sixth all-time at VCU and needs just 277 points to surpass the record.

Hurt also holds the Colonial Athletic Association's single-season records for double-doubles and rebounding.  She broke the double-doubles mark last spring at CAA-foe Georgia State, posting her 23rd of the season.

Hurt is joined on this year's watch list by fellow CAA members Elena Delle Donne (Delaware) and Shante Evans (Hofstra).

After naming the top 30 players to watch in late February, the Atlanta Tipoff Club Board of Selectors will vote for the four finalists in March.  The winner of the 2012 Naismith Trophy will be announced at the 2012 NCAA Women's Final Four in Denver.

VCU opens Colonial Athletic Association play against Northeastern on Dec. 4 at the Verizon Wireless Arena.  Tipoff is set for 2 p.m.
