RICHMOND, Va. – VCU Track & Field head coach Jon Riley has announced the Rams 2019 Indoor Track & Field schedule, highlighted by an opening weekend trip to Blacksburg, Va. to compete in the Virginia Tech Invitational on Jan. 11th-12th.

VCU Women's Track & Field will enter this season coming off a year in which they won their second consecutive Indoor Atlantic 10 Championship. The Rams are in the midst of their 11th season under the watchful eye of Riley, who was named as the Atlantic 10 Women's Coach of the Year in his last season. Sophomore jumper Aliyah Newman, who was named to the A-10 All-Rookie Team last season.

VCU Men's Track & Field enters the year coming off a third place finish in last season Atlantic 10 Indoor Championship Meet. The Rams are in their ninth season under the direction of Riley, who has kept the team in constant contention since taking over the program in 2010. VCU also returns sophomore high-jumper Xyan Xrichardson, who was named to the A-10 All-Rookie team as freshman last season.

Following their trip to Virginia Tech, the Rams will continue early season competition with meets in Lexington, Va. for the Keydet Invitational on Jan. 18th-19th as well as in Fairfax, Va. for the George Mason Invitational respectively.

The Rams will then travel to Lynchburg to participate in the Liberty Flames Invite on Feb. 1st-2nd, before heading back to Lexington, Va. for the VMI Winter Relays on Feb. 8th-9th.

VCU Track & Field team begins conference competition on Feb. 23rd-24th when Riley tries to lead the women's team to their third consecutive Atlantic 10 Indoor Championship. Riley will also attempt to lead VCU Men's Track & Field to their first A-10 Indoor Championship in his tenure. The NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships will be held in Birmingham, Ala., on March 8th-9th.
