RICHMOND, Va. – The VCU Men's Tennis team found more success this season, this time on the academic front.

The reigning Atlantic 10 Conference Champions were honored this week as an ITA All-Academic Team, a designation reserved for squads that post a cumulative grade point average of 3.20 and above (on a 4.00 scale). VCU was also named an ITA All-Academic Team in 2016, 2017 and 2018.

In addition to the ITA team award, six athletes earned individual honors.  Junior Javier Amantegui (Madrid, Spain), sophomore Timo Zgraggen (Bern, Switzerland), junior Inaki Rivero Crespo (Mallorca, Spain), and seniors Philip Mobius (Malmo, Sweden) and Arvid Noren (Pitea, Sweden) were all named ITA Scholar-Athletes for their academic excellence. Noren has earned the honor the last three seasons while Rivero Crespo was also named a Scholar Athlete in 2018.

In order to receive an ITA Scholar-Athlete award, a player must be a letter winner, achieve a GPA of 3.5 or higher and have been enrolled at their school for a minimum of two semesters.

The ITA awards cap off a 2018-2019 campaign which saw VCU finish 16-10 and claim its third-consecutive A-10 Championship.
