NORFOLK, Va. – Benjamin Franklin once said, "in this world nothing can be certain except death and taxes." If Mr. Franklin were around today, he might want to adjust that and add "the VCU men's tennis team playing for the CAA Championship" to that list.

Of the 17 years that VCU has been a member of the CAA, the Rams have now played in the CAA Championship match 16 times after the Black & Gold blitzed Old Dominion, 4-0, on Saturday morning. It was the Rams' ninth straight win as they improve to 21-4 this spring.

Junior Jaime Vazquez has been a huge part of VCU's recent win streak as the La Coruna, Spain native has now won nine straight matches himself and has a team-leading 24 singles wins this year. Saturday was no different as he helped secure the doubles point for the Rams with partner Alejandro Argente, 8-4, at the third doubles spot.

His stellar play continued on the singles court with a 6-1, 6-3 win over Alfredo Rodriguez at the sixth singles spot. That came after sophomore Antoine Baroz breezed to a 6-4, 6-0 win in the fourth spot in the VCU singles lineup.

For the second straight day, sophomore Alexis Heugas clinched the win for the Rams with a hard-fought victory over Krzystof Muzalewski, 2-6, 6-4, 6-1 at the top singles position.

VCU will battle UNCW for the third time in four years for the CAA Championship on Sunday morning. First serve is set for 10 a.m.
