RICHMOND, Va. – The VCU men's tennis team entered Wednesday's match with in-state and conference rival William & Mary with momentum on their side having won five straight.

That momentum carried over to the match as the Rams took four of the first five points of the match to secure their sixth straight victory in an eventual 5-2 defeat of the Tribe on a blustery day at Thalhimer Tennis Center.

The 50th-ranked duo of Alexis Heugas and Antoine Baroz got things started on the doubles side with an 8-4 win at the number one singles position, which led a doubles sweep by the Black & Gold to pick up the match's first point.

Heugas continued his strong play with a straight set 6-0, 6-1 defeat of Adrian Vodislav at the top singles spot. Junior Jaime Vazquez was close behind with a straight set 6-1,6 -1 defeat of John Banks at the sixth position in the lineup.

Junior standout Max Wennakoski secured the win for the Rams with a straight set win of his own, 6-4, 6-3 over Anton Anderson in the second singles slot.

Baroz rounded out the singles win with a 7-6, 7-6 win over Ben Hoogland at #4 singles.

VCU (18-4) wraps up their 2012 regular season on Saturday morning at Thalhimer Tennis Center when the Red Storm of St. John's come to Richmond. First serve is set for 11 a.m.
