RICHMOND Va.—When your school's biggest rival comes to town, particularly as your first conference opponent, you want to make a statement.  VCU made that statement when they went a perfect 7-0 against conference rival Old Dominion University.

In doubles competition, all three VCU pairs took down their opposition.  Alexis Heugas & Antoine Baroz and Alejandro Argente & Jaime Vazquez each secured victories at 8-5, while Max Wennakoski & Filip Svensson won 8-4.

During singles competition, no match went farther than two sets, and 11 out of 12 sets were won 6-3 or less.  Senior Filip Svensson had a powerful day on the court as he won his match 6-1, 6-1.  Junior Jaime Vazquez took control his own singles match, winning 6-1, 6-2.

The Rams move to 11-2 on the year and 1-0 in conference play.

VCU takes to the court again Monday, Feb. 27 against Nebraska.  Match-play is set for 10 a.m.
