RICHMOND, Va. – VCU Men's Soccer midfielder Siad Haji was named to TopDrawerSoccer's All-American First Team, announced by the publication on Monday. This marks the second consecutive year in which VCU has earned a TopDrawer All-American honor after Rafael Andrade Santos was named to the team last season.
"Congratulations to Siad as the honors continue to roll in for him after an outstanding second season here at VCU," said head coach Dave Giffard.
Haji, a junior from Manchester, N.H., also earned All-Atlantic 10 First Team honors and was named the Atlantic 10 Midfielder of the Year earlier this season. In addition, he was also named to the United Soccer Coaches All-Southeast Region First Team.
Haji played a key role in the Rams' success this season as he logged five goals, 10 assists and four game-winning goals this season. His four game-winning goals were tied for first in the A-10 while his 10 assists ranked second. Haji was also named A-10 Offensive Player of the Week twice during the season.
VCU earned the 2018 Atlantic 10 Regular Season title after posting a 10-6-1 overall record and a 6-1-1 record in A-10 play. Haji nearly led the Rams to their fourth consecutive A-10 Championship match, but fell short to Rhode Island in the semifinal.
Haji's best game arguably came in VCU's 4-0 win over then-No. 20 Old Dominion as he recorded a career-high three assists in a rout of the Monarchs.
