RICHMOND – Men’s Soccer’s Rafael Andrade Santos and Ulrik Edvarsen kept the award train moving on Friday afternoon, as the pair were selected to College Soccer News All-American and All-Freshman teams, respectfully, as announced by the publication. Both garnered Second Team honors on their respective lists.
Santos has cleaned up on awards this season, earning recognition from all major publications and organizations, most notably earning All-American recognition just last week. The 2017 Atlantic 10 Conference Offensive Player of the Year, Santos led the league with 12 goals and 29 points. He provided VCU with five of its 12 game-winning goals in 2017. He has also earned USC All-Region and First Team All-Atlantic 10 honors this season as well.
Edvarsen helped anchor a back line defense that helped the Rams to a first place regular-season finish in the Atlantic 10. His two goals and one assist over 18 games would place him on the Atlantic 10 All-Rookie team.
Behind the duo, the Rams rolled to a national ranking, 12 victories and a first round bye in the NCAA Tournament. His goals helped lift VCU to wins over No. 9 Maryland and No. 15 UNC Wilmington during the regular season.
