RICHMOND, Va. – Rising junior Juan Fajardo Ortiz recieved an invitation on Wednesday to join the Honduras U-23 Olympic Team next month.
"I'm very excited for JuanRa," said Head Coach Dave Giffard. "He has had a very strong last 18 months with us and has developed significantly. He deserves a look with Honduras. To be called in again for the first time since he was a U-17, speaks volumes to the gains he has made here with us."
This past fall, Fajardo earned All-Atlantic 10 Second Team honors after proving to be a vital piece of the Rams back line that allowed just 0.62 goals per game, which is the fewest goals in the program's 37-year history and 11th fewest in the country.
Fajardo and the team will begin training camp on Sunday, June 14 that is set to run through Thursday, June 18 in Comayagua, Honduras. Following the camp, the U-23 team will play an international friendly with El Salvador on the 18th.
