RICHMOND, Va. – St. Francis of Assisi once said, "For it is in giving that we receive."

For that reason, Virginia Commonwealth University men's basketball has partnered with Target and the Boys & Girls Club to host "Shop with the Rams" for the second straight year on Sunday, Dec. 18th.

Head Coach Shaka Smart and his coaching staff with join together with the Boys & Girls Club of Richmond at the Target at Libbie Place, for a day chocked full of fun. Target has donated 25 gift cards for all the students ages 6-12.

"We couldn't be more excited about Shop with the Rams," Smart said. "It provides a terrific opportunity for our staff to give back to our community while taking part in the spirit of the holidays."

The bus will arrive at the West End Club parking lot and depart for the Siegel Center at around 3 p.m. Once at the arena, the kids will participate in a Meet and Greet with Smart and his staff.

After getting a tour of the Siegel Center, the group will head out to Target where they will be split into two groups. While one group is shopping, the other group will be given the opportunity to have their pictures taken with members of the VCU Basketball program and win raffle prizes. The groups will then switch, and the other students will shop. Each child will be matched with a member of the VCU program and given a $100 Target gift card to use for gifts for themselves or others during the holiday season.

Coach Smart will then deliver some remarks, distribute pictures and present each member of the Boys & Girls Club with a gift bag. The event will conclude by 6 p.m.
