PARADISE ISLAND, BAHAMAS – Thanksgiving is about spending time with family and friends, enjoying the blessings that life has be stilled upon each person.

What better place to give thanks than the Bahamas? That's where the VCU men's basketball team will spend next Thanksgiving as they are one of eight teams lined up to play in the 2012 Battle 4 Atlantis Tournament.

In just the second year of the tournament, the Battle 4 Atlantis wanted to make a big splash with its field. The 2012 field sure looks like it will be tough to beat with VCU joining a field that includes Duke, Stanford, Memphis, Northern Iowa, Missouri, Louisville and Minnesota.

The field was announced Saturday during the final day of this year's Battle 4 Atlantis Tournament, which included the 2011 NCAA Champion, UCONN.

Games will be played from Nov. 22-24, times for next year's tournament have not been determined, but fans can sign up for e-mail alerts about the 2012 Battle 4 Atlantis Tournament here.

Just in the past five years, the eight-team field for next year has combined for 26 NCAA Tournament appearances, three Final Fours and one NCAA championship.

The tournament will take place Thanksgiving weekend in 2012, more details about the tournament will be passed along as they are announced.
