LOS ANGELES, Calif. – VCU continues to reap the benefits of its magical NCAA Tournament run more than three months after reeling off five straight victories en route to the school's first-ever Final Four.

On Wednesday night, the team added to its hardware as the Black & Gold took home an ESPY for "Best Upset".

"This was a really cool experience and it's definitely something that we'll never forget," said senior Joey Rodriguez.  "I'm very fortunate to have enjoyed this moment with some of my closest friends.  We're very thankful to everyone who voted.  It's great to see VCU on the map."

Head Coach Shaka Smart, Rodriguez, Jamie Skeen, Ed Nixon, Brandon Rozzell and Bradford Burgess took part in the event.  An exclusive gathering for all nominees was held Tuesday night before the 19th annual ESPYS aired live from the Nokia Theatre on Wednesday.

The Rams competed against the Seattle Seahawks' upset over the New Orleans Saints in the first round of last year's NFL playoffs, Fabricio Werdum's MMA upset of Fedor Emelianenko and Blame's upset over Zenyatta in the Breeder's Cup.
