The short story: Junior Kristian Tannum Donaldson (Buckinghamshire, England) fired a career-low performance as VCU continued its hot start to the 2019-20 season at the J.T. Poston Invitational.


  • Tannum Donaldson carded 67-68-68 at the 54-hole event on the way to a collegiate-best total of 203. He narrowly missed the program 54-hole record of 202, held by three players
  • Behind Tannum Donaldson, VCU shot a combined 832 – second-lowest in school history -  to place third at 20-under. Georgia Southern (-47) nipped South Carolina (-46) for the team title. Morehead State (-18) and Central Arkansas (-11) rounded out the top five
  • Sophomore Adrian Vagberg (Sollentuna, Sweden) opened with a 5-under 66 on Monday's first round on the way to a share of 16th place
  • Sophomore Clifford Foster (Richmond, Va.) turned in the best performance of his young VCU career, shooting 71-70-69 on the way to a share of 30th place
  • Sophomore Ian Peng (Chang Hua, Taiwan) and junior Sachin Kumar (Valsayn, Trinidad & Tobago) placed 34th and 66th, respectively, for VCU

  • Peng and Tannum Donaldson each recorded two eagles in the tournament, and VCU's four were tied for the tournament lead
  • Foster led all players with 17 birdies. Vagberg and Tannum Donaldson carded 13 and 12, respectively
  • Foster led the field in Par 3 scoring (2.67), while Tannum Donaldson did so on Par 5 holes (4.22)


  • Tannum Donaldson is the second Ram to shoot 203 this season. Peng shot 203 at the Marshall Invitational in VCU's fall opener on the way to a runner-up finish
  • VCU has finished first, fifth and third, respectively, in its first three tournaments this fall
