RICHMOND, Va. – To the victors, go the weekly conference awards, or something like that.

The VCU duo of senior Rocky Khara (Sebring, Fla.) (pictured, left) and freshman Hanish Nagrani (Welland, Ontario) are finding out firsthand what comes with winning. Khara earned Atlantic 10 Conference Player of the Week honors Thursday, while Nagrani was crowned Rookie of the Week for a second time.
Khara and Nagrani were honored following VCU's victory Tuesday at the Old Dominion/Outer Banks Collegiate at Kilmarlich Golf Club in Powells Point, N.C. Khara and Nagrani were pivotal in the Rams' final day charge that saw VCU shoot 271, the program's lowest one-day total since 2009.
Khara flirted with his first collegiate individual victory. The senior shot 6-under (70-68-69=207) and forced a three-way, sudden death playoff that was eventually won by Logan Lagodich of Marshall. The second-place finish is tied for the best of Khara's career.
Nagrani, meanwhile, bagged his second consecutive Rookie of the Week award after firing a final-round 66 Tuesday. Not only did his 5-under effort spearhead VCU's leap from fourth place to the trophy stand in the tournament's final day, but the score was the lowest by a Ram in two years. Nagrani finished tied for 19th overall at 2-over (75-74-66=215).
VCU and its award-winning duo will conclude their fall season Oct. 26-27 at the Bridgestone Golf Collegiate in Greensboro, N.C.
