NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – VCU Field Hockey's Maite Sturm has been named the Atlantic 10 Offensive Player of the Week as announced by the conference Monday afternoon.

Sturm, an All-Atlantic 10 First Team selection last season, earns the honor for the first time in her career after scoring three goals and adding an assist in VCU's two wins this past weekend.

Against Davidson Friday, Sturm was involved in all three goals in VCU's 3-1 win. Sturm scored the game's first goal in the 9th minute and the game-winning goal in the 39th minute to put VCU up 2-1. She assisted Svea Sturm on the Rams' final goal in the 43rd minute.

In the 4-1 win over Saint Francis, Sturm scored on a penalty stroke in the 57th minute and also tied for the team-high with four shot attempts. The two wins last weekend have propelled VCU to three consecutive A-10 victories.

Sturm leads the team with 13 points so far this season, tallying a team-best six goals along with one assist.
