RICHMOND, Va. – Virginia Commonwealth University Head Baseball Coach Shawn Stiffler is slated to be part of the USA Baseball 2019 14U National Team Development Program Staff it was announced Tuesday. Stiffler will specifically be managing the Stripes team during the program.

Stiffler will be joined by Vanderbilt University Associate Head Coach Scott Brown, Chaparral High School Head Coach Troy Gerlach and Catawba Valley Community College Head Coach/Assistant Athletic Director Paul Rozelle on the Stripes coaching staff.

Stiffler recently wrapped up his seventh season as head coach at VCU. Stiffler has led the Rams to at least 35 wins in five of his seven seasons. In 2019, the Rams finished with a 39-19 record and claimed the Atlantic-10 Regular Season Title. He has seen much success in his time at VCU, including a 2015 ABCA East-Region Coach of the Year award after guiding the Rams to an A-10 Conference Championship and advancing to the first Super Regional in school history.

The NTDP offers select athletes an opportunity to connect with USA Baseball staff and prepare for future national team experiences. Skill development sessions, off-field educational seminars, intrasquad series between Stars and Stripes teams and exposure to professional scouts and college recruiters will be included in the program. The 14U NTDP also serves as an identification event for the 15U National Team Trials roster. The 2019 14U NTDP will be held July 21-24 at the USA Baseball National Training Complex in Cary, North Carolina.
