RICHMOND - VCU Baseball freshman Hogan Brown broke out for a solid weekend against the Rhode Island Rams, thus earning himself a selection as the Atlantic 10 Co-Rookie of the Week as announced by the conference office on Monday afternoon.
Brown had six hits in 12 at-bats for a .500 average in VCU's weekend sweep of Rhode Island to open A-10 conference play. An outfielder from Virginia Beach, Va., Brown scored two runs, collected an RBI and walk, while also smacking a double. He had a pair of hits, the double and a run scored in Friday’s opener. He had three hits Saturday, and then recorded a 1-3 day at the plate Sunday, while scoring a run and collecting an RBI.
George Washington senior Isaiah Pasteur was chosen as the Atlantic 10 Conference Baseball Player of the Week, while George Mason junior Zach Mort was selected as Pitcher of the Week. Fordham freshman C.J. Vazquez was selected with Brown as Co-Rookies of the Week.
VCU has now won 12 in a row ahead of this week's tilt with Virginia, and upcoming series at Saint Louis.
