Acker named to New England Collegiate Baseball League All-Star Game

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. – Rising senior Cody Acker of the VCU Baseball team is enjoying quite a summer and his success was rewarded with a spot in the New England Collegiate Baseball League All-Star Game.

Acker, who has played in 19 games for the Danbury Westerners, will be a part of the South squad on Sunday, July 19th at Historic Goodall Park in Sanford, Maine at the league's 22nd annual game.

The Silver Spring, Md. native is leading his team with a .333 average and six doubles, while ranking second on the team with 25 hits and 10 runs.

This past year, he made 46 starts during VCU's historic season and run to the program's first-ever Super Regional. He drove in two of the Rams' three runs in the regional win to secure VCU's 3-1 win over Dallas Baptist.

In three seasons with the Black & Gold, Acker has played in 137 games, posting a .267 average with 130 hits, 16 doubles and 48 RBIs, while scoring 66 runs.

Hundreds of scouts from every MLB organization will be in attendance with a game and full day of festitivities. First pitch is set for 5:05 p.m.
