Acker Selected to Play in Cal Ripken Summer Baseball League All-Star Game

SILVER SPRING, Md. – VCU freshman outfielder Cody Acker (pictured right) has been named to the Cal Ripken Summer Baseball League All-Star game after a strong first half of the summer season.

The Silver Spring, Md. native has starred for his hometown team, the Silver Spring T-Bolts, this summer. Acker is hitting .318 (28-for-88) in 24 games with four doubles, two triples, and five RBIs. He has also scored 14 runs.

Acker appeared in 30 games during his freshman season with the Rams, hitting .208 (15-for-72) with four RBIs and six runs scored. He boasted a perfect fielding percentage in the outfield.

The Cal Ripken Summer League All-Star game is set for Wednesday, July 17 at 7:30 p.m. Acker will represent the North team in the game.
