HARRISONBURG, Va. - Four Virginia Commonwealth University baseball players received All-Colonial Athletic Association recognition Tuesday evening at the conference's annual pre-tournament awards banquet on the campus of James Madison University.

Sophomore infielder Joey Cujas picked up first team honors, while junior pitcher Blake Hauser was named to second team and sophomore outfielder Bill Cullen received third team recognition. Freshman infielder Vimael Machin was named to the All-Rookie team.

Cujas was named the league's best third baseman after finishing the season with the league's third highest batting average (.379). The Midlothian, Va., native roped 19 doubles, two triples and a pair of home runs. Cujas drove in a team-high 45 RBI and scored 39 runs. Cujas (pictured right) was just as good defensively, positing a .967 fielding percentage, with 35 putouts, 112 assists and just five errors. Cujas was a member of the All-Rookie team in 2011.

Hauser picked up second team honors after serving as one of the league's dominant closers throughout the CAA in 2012. The Chesterfield, Va., native made 29 appearances out of the bullpen, while recording a 5-2 record and collecting 10 saves. Hauser has allowed just 15 hits in 32 innings of work, while fanning 62 batters.

This marks the second time that Cullen has earned All-CAA honors, as the sophomore drew second team honors in 2011. The Colonial Heights, Va., native is tied for the lead nationally in triples with nine and is second in the country in doubles with 25. Cullen has scored 58 runs, driven in 37 RBI, belted four home runs and at one point this season, had a 20-game hitting streak. Cullen has been a defensive stalwart, with 127 putouts, three assists and just two errors (.985 fielding percentage).

Machin has been a consistent performer for the Black & Gold in 2012, as he is one of just four student-athletes to play and start each contest. Machin finished the regular season with a .286 batting average, with 28 runs scored, 12 doubles, one triple, two home runs and 23 RBI. The Rams' starting shortstop notched a fielding percentage of .940, on 59 putouts, 174 assists and 15 errors.

Hofstra's Dany Poma received Player of the Year honors, while William & Mary's Matt Davenport was named Pitcher of the Year. A Hofstra student-athlete also garnered Defensive Player of the Year honors, in Matt Ford, while Northeastern's Jason Vosler took home Rookie of the Year honors. UNCW head coach Mark Scalf, who led the Seahawks to the CAA regular season title, was named the league's Coach of the Year.
