FORTUNE CAPTURES RAM OF THE WEEK HONORS
Sophomore posts second-best 200-meter time in school history
RICHMOND, Va. – Head Coach Jon Riley is only two meets into his Virginia Commonwealth University women’s track and field career, but his roots to the New Orleans area are already paying huge dividends.
New Orleans native Quina Fortune posted the second-best time in VCU history in the 200-meter dash in route to a victory in the event at this past weekend’s Navy Invite.
For her outstanding efforts, Fortune was named McDonald’s Ram of the Week.
Her time in the 200-meter was 24.92.
The sophomore was not done though, finishing second in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.79, the third best time in school history.
Fortune and the Rams will be back on the track this weekend as they travel to the Hampton Invitational on Saturday afternoon.
