BOUCHARD EARNS ALL-REGION HONORS

RICHMOND, Va. – Nearly 1200 women’s soccer players compete in the Mid-Atlantic region. Only 33 of those earn NSCAA/Adidas All-Region honors.

Junior Myriam Bouchard (Quebec City, Quebec) of the Virginia Commonwealth University women’s soccer team was among those 33 in 2009, earning third team honors.

It was the first time a Ram earned All-Region recognition since 2007 when Megan Flanagan was named to the third team squad.

Bouchard is current member of the Canadian National Team and has the backbone of the Black & Gold defense since her arrival in 2006.

This past season she helped anchor a defense that held their opponents to one goal or less in 13 of VCU’s 19 games, while also supplying some offense with one goal and two assists on the year.

All of this came a year after Bouchard missed the 2008 campaign to serve as a captain on Canada’s U-20 World Cup team that placed fifth at the prestigious event.
