RAMS WILL SQUARE OFF AGAINST A PAIR OF FIRST-TIME OPPONENTS
VCU welcomes Bucknell to SportsBackers Stadium for the first home match of the year
RICHMOND, Va.—The Virginia Commonwealth University women’s soccer will open its home slate this weekend, but not before another road game on Friday. The Rams (0-4) travel to Baltimore to take on Loyola, before finally opening its home schedule on Sunday against Bucknell.
VCU enters the weekend with an 0-4 record after dropping a pair of contests to North Carolina State and UNC Greensoboro at the N.C. State Residence Inn North Invitational last weekend. Of the Rams’ four losses, three have been decided by one goal. On Friday, VCU will square off with another team looking for its first victory of the season. Loyola enters the weekend with an 0-3-1 mark. The Greyhounds lost to LaSalle and tied San Diego State last weekend at the Villanova Classic. Friday’s meeting will be the first ever between VCU and Loyola.
On Sunday, the Rams return home for their first home match of the season. VCU was 6-3-1 at SportsBackers Stadium a year ago. The Rams will welcome Bucknell. Sunday’s match will mark the first meeting between the Rams and the Bison. Bucknell enters the weekend with a 3-2-1 mark after topping Mount St. Mary’s, 4-0, on Thursday.
Sunday’s match can be viewed live on www.vcuathletics.com. Local radio personality Joey Elswick will provide the call. For ticket information, contact 828-RAMS. |
