WILLIAMS’ FINISHES CAREER WITH STRONG SHOWING AT NCAA REGIONALS

LOUISVILLE, Ky.— All season long it appeared that senior Danielle Williams (Virginia Beach, Va.) of the Virginia Commonwealth University women’s cross country team had saved her best season for her last, and Saturday morning was no different as the veteran leader of the Black and Gold placed among the top-40 at the NCAA Regionals meet, a field full of national talent.

The Virginia Beach, Va. native finished 39th in the field stopping the clock in 21:35.80, a career best for her and a more than 30-second improvement from her time at the CAA Championships two weeks ago.

Sophomore Melissa Douglas (Spotsylvania, Va.) continued to show that the future is bright for the program as she improved her time by more than 30-second as well posting a time of 23:11.75.

Senior Libby Little (Spotsylvania, Va.) rounded out the drastic improvements for the Black and Gold as the veteran clocked in at 24:21.85, yet another improvement 30-second improvement for the Rams.

"Our girls continue to show the progress of this program week after week," Assistant Coach Ethan Tussing said. "Each week we set goals heading into the meets and these group of girls have achieved that and more every time out on the course.”
