BACHVAROVA EARNS MCDONALD’S RAM OF THE WEEK HONORS
Senior gives VCU thrilling 59-57 road win at Liberty

RICHMOND, Va. – Senior Radoslava Bachvarova (Varna, Bulgaria) made sure to get out of the gates strong as the veteran led the Rams to a hard-fought 1-1 opening weekend in the Preseason WNIT. Her outstanding efforts have earned her McDonald’s Ram of the Week honors.

Bachvarova started the year off by chipping in a team-high 13 points, including drilling three free-throws with 2.1 seconds remaining to give VCU a thrilling 59-57 road victory over Liberty.

She continued her strong shooting by going 9-for-15 against sixth-ranked North Carolina on Sunday evening. She finished the evening with 19 points, 12 of which came in the second half when she rallied the Rams to get within 11 of the Tar Heels.

In all, she averaged 16 points in the two games with 2.5 rebounds and two assists.

Bachvarova and the Rams will wrap up their stay in the 2008 Preseason WNIT as they host the Green Wave of Tulane on Friday evening at the Siegel Center. Game time is set for 7 p.m.
