HOLLINGSWORTH NAMED CAA CO-PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Second such honor this year for the veteran

RICHMOND, Va. – For the second time this year, senior Quanitra Hollingsworth (Chesapeake, Va.) averaged a double-double for the week and for the second time she was named Colonial Athletic Association Co-Player of the Week.

The veteran frontcourt player averaged 13.0 points and 11.0 rebounds in two home wins for the Virginia Commonwealth University women’s basketball team.

In a 69-52 victory over William & Mary on Thursday evening, Hollingsworth dominated the paint and stifled the Tribe’s offensive standout Tiffany Benson, along with pouring in 10 points and grabbing 10 rebounds for the Black and Gold.

She followed that up with a 16-point, 12-rebound performance in VCU’s 68-45 win over Delaware on Sunday afternoon.

Hollingsworth has notched three straight double-doubles, nine for the season and 46 for her outstanding four-year career.

For the season, she leads the Black and Gold with 14.4 points and 9.2 rebounds per outing, while shooting 52.1% from the field.

She also earned CAA Co-Player of the Week honors on Dec. 22nd when she led VCU to three straight victories.

Hollingsworth and the Rams have won 10 of their past 11 contests and will look continue the stellar play as the Pride of Hofstra University visit the Siegel Center on Thursday evening in a 7 p.m. contest.
