RICHMOND, Va. – VCU junior middle blocker Jasmin Sneed (San Antonio, Texas) has been named Atlantic 10 Conference Defensive Player of the Week for the second time, the league announced Monday.
Sneed averaged 1.86 blocks per set in a pair of VCU A-10 road wins over the weekend. The 6-foot Texan logged seven blocks and 13 kills in Sunday's triumph over Dayton. That VCU victory snapped the Flyers' 34-match win streak over A-10 foes at the Frericks Center. She also hit .324 for the week and averaged 2.57 kills per set.
VCU has won five straight overall and 20 consecutive matches against A-10 competition. Sneed, who ranks sixth nationally in blocks per set (1.58) is a big reason why.
Sneed and the Rams return to action on Saturday, Oct. 6 at 6 p.m. at Davidson.
