The short story: Junior outside hitter Vicky Giommarini powered VCU with eight kills, eight digs and four aces and as the Rams won their fourth straight match Friday.

OPENING VOLLEY

  • Giommarini, who hit .227, led a balanced VCU attack that featured five players with at least five kills and three with four or more blocks
  • Junior opposite Gina Tuzzolo spiked four kills, served up three aces and collected a pair of blocks for the Black and Gold
  • Junior middle blocker Jasmin Sneed, who entered the night ranked seventh in the country in blocks per set, continued her torrid pace with six rejections, as well as five kills
  • In addition, VCU sophomore outside hitter Paula Neciporuka added seven kills and hit .333
  • Maya Taylor led all players with 11 kills for the Billikens

  • VCU outhit Saint Louis .263-.121
  • The Rams served up a season-high 11 aces on the day
  • VCU continued its dominance at the net. The Rams outblocked the Billikens 10-5
  • Saint Louis never hit better than .152 in any of Friday's three sets

VCU will meet Dayton for the first time since the Rams topped the Flyers in the 2017 A-10 championship match.  That match is set for Sunday, Sept. 30 at 1 p.m. in Dayton, Ohio.
