STRANGE, BALDWIN NAMED AVCA ALL-EAST REGION

RICHMOND, Va. – Two catalysts behind VCU's historic 2017 season have been honored again.

Senior libero Rebekah Strange (Avon, Ind.) and junior middle Tori Baldwin (Liberty, N.C.) were named AVCA All-East Region Tuesday. They are the first Rams to receive All-Region honors since 2013.

Strange averaged 5.00 digs per set this season, which led the Atlantic 10 Conference and ranked 37th nationally. She also served up 35 aces. In four seasons, Strange piled up 1,812 digs, which ranks third in program history.

For her efforts this season, Strange was named A-10 Libero of the Year and All-Conference First Team.

Baldwin was a force for the Rams in the middle. The 6-foot-3 junior averaged 1.53 blocks – a mark which ranks sixth nationally - and 1.80 kills per set, while hitting a school-record .360. She was one piece of VCU's NCAA-best blocking attack. The Rams averaged a school-record 3.29 blocks per set in 2017, tops nationally.

VCU's front line helped push the Rams to a 30-3 mark, which included a 27-match win streak. Baldwin was named All-Atlantic 10 Conference First Team for her play.

In addition to their 30 victories, the Rams captured the Atlantic 10 Conference regular season and tournament title and advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2005.
