  • Tuzzolo and Giommarini recorded four kills a piece in the first set as the Rams set the tone and took control with a 25-17 win.

  • VCU last trailed at 6-5 in the first set. The Rams did not trail again at any point Tuesday.
  • Giommarini has served up 17 aces in 12 matches this season. She recorded 28 in the entire 2016 season.
  • VCU's seven-match win streak is its longest since the 2013 season. The Rams' 10-2 mark is its best after 12 matches since that 2013 campaign, when VCU finished 26-8.

"Madalon Simpson came in tonight for Rebekah Strange and did a phenomenal job. Diamond Boxley came in and gave us a different look than Tori Baldwin, and that threw them off a bit. She did a great job making the middle follow her. I think this is the first game we were outblocked, but we sided out at a high percentage. We kept them on their toes. Everybody is contributing right now." – VCU Coach Jody Rogers.

The Rams return home to host the VCU Invitational Sept. 15-16 at the E.J. Wade Arena at the Stuart C. Siegel Center. The Black and Gold will take on Bowling Green Friday at 7 p.m. to kick off the weekend.
