The short story: Junior Alica Kandler led the VCU offense with 11 kills in VCU's 3-0 win over Charleston Southern on Saturday. Freshman Jasmin Sneed anchored the Black and Gold's defense with a match-high five blocks in VCU's final match at the College of Charleston Classic.

• Sophomore Julia Adler recorded nine kills and finished the match with a .389 hitting percentage.
• Freshman Vicky Giommarini contributed to the Black and Gold's victory with nine kills and a career-high 14 digs.
• Classmate Tyler Sroufe also set a career-high with four blocks on the day.
 

HOW IT HAPPENED

• VCU limited the Buccaneers to a .176 hitting percentage.
• The Rams set the tone for the match early in the first set. VCU sparked a 7-3 run and never looked back.
• The Black and Gold gained momentum in the second set with a 9-1 run and finished with a commanding 25-14 win.
• The Rams out dug the Buccaneers 48-35 and owned a 6-0 advantage in service aces. 
• VCU's strong defensive game at the net contributed to a 7-2 advantage in blocks over Charleston Southern.
