VIRGINIA LOTTERY STUDENT-ATHLETE OF THE WEEK: JULIA ADLER

RICHMOND, Va. – After recording double digit kills two out of her three games over the weekend, volleyball player Julia Adler was selected as the Virginia Lottery Student-Athlete of the Week as announced on Wednesday afternoon.

Adler's offensive and defensive prowess aided the Rams to a 2-1 weekend at the Florida Gulf Coast Invitational. Her biggest game came against Delaware on Saturday where she recorded 14 kills and six blocks, with a .407 attack percentage. She also came through with double digit kills on Friday in the Black and Gold's matchup against New Orleans. In that match Adler provided VCU with 10 kills and three blocks en route to their second win of the weekend. To wrap things up she was also strong in VCU's only loss of the weekend coming one kill shy of double digits with nine.

The sophomore out of Brampton, Ontario has appeared in every match thus far for VCU this season, averaging 2.46 kills per set and almost one block per set. Last season she appeared in 24 matches, including 10 starts and averaged 1.69 kills per set.

A Mass Communications major with a minor in French, Adler enjoys skiing and snowboarding in her time away from the court. Prior to coming to VCU she competed for Leaside Volleyball Club and helped lead her U18 squad to a provincial championship. She has a brother, Erik, and a twin sister, Kristina, who plays volleyball at Saint Mary's University in Halifax, Nova Scotia.
